About Lakewood
Lakewood Montessori is a Boise preschool that loves learning. We know that the first six years of life are the most important in a child’s development, and we believe in creating an environment where a child can reach their full potential. We nurture each child’s growing body, mind, and heart!

Art
Lakewood Montessori's art-enriched environments set the stage for your child to blossom into a creative, curious, critical thinker.
Nature
Lakewood's holistic garden curriculum provides your child with opportunities to explore the natural world and their place in it.
Montessori
Montessori education follows a child's natural development with the aim of fulfilling a vital mission: to inspire a life-long love of learning.
What is Montessori?

Not your typical Boise preschool! Montessori classrooms are mixed-age communities where children engage in multi-sensory learning, independent exploration, and care for the people and things around them. Students follow their curiosity at their own pace, taking the time they need to fully understand each concept. In this supportive environment, children become self-driven, passionate learners.
All Year Montessori
Not your typical preschool, and not your typical schedule! We operate on an All-Year Montessori schedule: learning is best when it’s supported full-day and year-round. No busy transitions to other programs or camps: your child’s day is relaxed and full of learning opportunities with their daytime family.
Who We Are
Lakewood Montessori was built from the ground up by early childhood educators. We believe that every child has great gifts to give to this world. Our school owners are former classroom teachers. Our faculty is highly trained and experienced. Just as importantly, they are nurturing, caring guides who seek to understand each child for the special person that they are. We’d love to welcome you to our Lakewood Montessori family!

Accreditations

We are a fully accredited member school of the American Montessori Society, an organization that sets the standard for Montessori schools. Our accreditation is part of our commitment to continual improvement and authentic Montessori practice.

The National Council for Private School Accreditation is dedicated to the accreditation process as a viable and responsible means of establishing a witness of school excellence.

What are parents saying?
Hear what Lakewood Montessori families have to say about their children’s experience:
Our family has been blessed to be a part of Lakewood Montessori for a decade now. We have four children, and our youngest now attends Lakewood. My wife and I are both educators, and we want our children to be cared for, loved, and inspired. Lakewood checks each of these boxes. Montessori is a wonderful balance of student interest and guided learning. We started at Lakewood with our first child due to references and location. By child three, we tried a different Montessori for convenience of location (we live across town). One day, I asked the other school’s teacher, “What do you like about my child?” The teacher could not answer my question. We moved child three back to Lakewood shortly thereafter. Now with child four, just like with my other children, I don’t have to ask that question because we get routine updates and anecdotal conversation (even during COVID pick-up and drop-off) that show the teacher knows and cares about my child. The growth academically and socially over the years (ours will be there 3 years each in the 3-6 Montessori program) is amazing, and our older children left more than prepared for their future schools (letter sounds, reading, math concepts, practical life), and we look forward to the same for our youngest. Lakewood is captured best by the drive to school today when the youngest broke into song: “Lakewood Montessori is where I go to school…love is the key!”

Our family has been part of the Lakewood school community for the past six years. My daughters were so fortunate to have kind, patient, caring and knowledgeable teachers and staff throughout their toddler and preschool years. We love the multi-age classrooms that allowed the girls to learn from their older classmates and eventually develop into class leaders as kindergarteners. We continue to stay connected to the friends and families that we have met at Lakewood. I cannot thank the directors enough for putting together such an incredible team of teachers and a wonderful school community. We are truly grateful for our time at Lakewood!
