Ms. Katie has been a Lakewood Montessori teacher since 2011. She is originally from the small town of Weiser, Idaho. She holds an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood from Idaho State University. She graduated with her Assistants to Infancy (birth to age three) Montessori Teaching Credential from the Montessori Institute of Denver Colorado in 2015. She is a certified Positive Discipline Parent Instructor.
Ms. Katie shares her expertise with Lakewood Montessori’s families through her positive discipline and toilet learning workshops. She is passionate about helping families support their child’s independence.
In her free time, she loves spending time outdoors; camping, hiking, dirt bike riding, and spending time with her family and friends. She is a proud Montessori mom to two Lakewood alumni!

Ms. Xandra joined Lakewood Montessori in July of 2018. She was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and moved to Boise in elementary school. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Communication Disorders and Deaf Education from Utah State University, and a Masters of Education from Whitworth University. She obtained her AMI Montessori teaching credential through Montessori Northwest in 2021. Before starting her Montessori journey, Ms. Xandra worked with children most of her career as a dance instructor, swim instructor, kindergarten reading volunteer, and nanny.
Ms. Xandra is a Montessori mom to three daughters: Gwen, Annie and Ellie. In her free time, Ms. Xandra loves to sing and play music, hike, power lift, and spend time with her friends and family. Her musical talents are known throughout the school! She and her family also obsess over their two dogs, Abby and Winston.

Ms. Lorena joined Lakewood Montessori’s faculty in 2014. She was born and raised in Burley, Idaho. She studied business administration at Boise State University before travel took her to Germany, Florida, and Japan. She earned her Montessori Teaching Credential at the Early Childhood level through Caspari Montessori Institute. She’s the proud mom of a college student (who used to look after the Lakewood reptiles during school breaks).
She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Ms. Lorena is a calm and comforting presence in her classroom community. She is a native Spanish speaker with a deep love for the culture and community she shares with many of Lakewood Montessori’s students. Her students love to converse in Spanish with her.

Ms. Ally joined Lakewood Montessori in 2024. Before coming to Lakewood, she worked in the Boise School District for 11 years as a first grade teacher and a special education teacher. Ms. Ally has a Bachelor’s of Arts from University of Idaho, a Masters in Education from Northwest Nazarene University, and is completing her Montessori Teaching Credential from the Authentic Institute of Montessori. She has a 120 pound dog named Tug, who she likes to take camping and hiking. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors and with friends and family. Her goal as a teacher is to make each child feel empowered and to gain confidence to do tasks independently. She also strives to build a solid relationship with each child in her classroom; she is here to be a guiding hand to each and every child who enters her class.

Ms. Madison is originally from Anchorage, Alaska. She is an Alaskan native, and her Aleut heritage is an important part of her identity. Ms. Madison came to Idaho for a better environment for her children.
Early childhood education has been a part of Ms. Madison’s life since before she can remember. Her mother worked as an early childhood educator for years, and Ms. Madison spent time alongside her. Madison has over ten years of early childhood experience. She worked in early childhood education as a young adult, and decided to pursue a career working with young children. She would go as far as to say this profession is her calling! Montessori education resonates with Ms. Madison. To her, it brings experience and learning together. As she puts it: you can read all about the ocean and know what lies beneath, but being there and experiencing it will always stand above that.
When she is not spending time with the children of room 4, Ms. Madison loves to be outside. Her family does a lot of hiking, swimming, and camping. During the winter she likes to craft.

Ms. Mary is one of the founders of Lakewood Montessori! She is a certified AMS Montessori teacher with over twenty years of classroom lead teaching experience. Over the past three decades, she’s had the joy and privilege of cultivating classroom environments that inspire curiosity, nurture a lifelong love of learning, and support the development of strong character. It is her heartfelt goal to help every child grow into a confident, self-motivated, and compassionate individual. She wants each child to understand their potential to make a positive difference in the world around them.
Ms. Mary has been married for 38 years to a wonderful man who also dedicated his career to education. They have raised three amazing children and she spoils and obsesses over her very cute grand-dog.

Ms. Cori joins Room 5 from Peaceful Child Montessori in Fall City, WA. She has a deep appreciation for the Montessori philosophy and a true passion for guiding and supporting children. Her goal is to nurture each child’s spirit and natural love of learning, while working together with families to support their overall development.
A Boise native, she graduated from Boise State University in 2014 with a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology, along with a minor in Family Studies. Her journey in early childhood education eventually led her to Montessori, an approach she felt a strong connection with. She went on to earn her Montessori Teaching Credential from Chestnut Montessori Teacher Training in Bellevue, Washington.
Ms. Cori and her husband have three daughters, Kaisley, Rylee, and Aubree, along with two dogs, Lola and Hank. As a family, they enjoy fishing, camping and cooking together. She also loves a good mystery book with a cup of coffee or tea!

Ms. Cecelia has worked with children for over 35 years as a nanny, preschool teacher, mother of three boys, preschool owner, and now as a Montessori guide. Originally from Ireland, Cecelia moved to Boise in 2009 and joined Lakewood Montessori as a toddler assistant. It was during this time that she fell in love with Montessori education. She vividly remembers observing a young child happily and independently cleaning up a large spill with the support of his classmates, an experience that showed her the beauty and respect at the heart of Montessori. Since then, she has been dedicated to guiding children with patience, care, and respect for their abilities. She earned her Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education certification through Age of Montessori in Montana.
Ms. Cecelia believes Montessori education gives children the opportunity to learn through meaningful work, to grow in independence, and to develop as part of a caring community in a beautifully prepared environment.
Outside of the classroom, she enjoys cooking, listening to music, walking, and knitting. Most of all, she loves spending time with her family. Becoming a grandmother has been a special joy, and she enjoys every moment with her grandson.

Ms. Amelia has been a Lakewood Montessori teacher since 2024. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University in 2021. Ms. Amelia is a gifted artist and has taught art in multiple settings to all ages. We love the process-based art lessons she facilitates on our playground!

Ms. Lauren has been a teacher at Lakewood Montessori since 2007! Her roles have included: afternoon assistant, Assistant Teacher, Intern, Co-teacher, Lead Teacher, and Mentor. Now she brings her talents to our garden program!
Her family moved from Denver, CO to Boise in 2002. She graduated from Eagle High School and studied art at Boise State University. She has always held a deep love for education and helping others, which eventually led to her pursuing her Montessori Credential. She graduated from Caspari Montessori Institute in 2010. She is an avid gardener, and even raises quail in her backyard!
Ms. Lauren is the proud mother of two Lakewood Montessori alumni. In their free time, Ms. Lauren, her husband, and their children, love to camp, kayak, and work in their garden. During the winter, they love to ski or stay in with their three dogs. Ms. Lauren loves to learn. Whether about art, history, outer space, or the young child, she is always learning. Ms. Lauren is happy to bring her curiosity and love of learning to her students.

Ms. Susan is Lakewood Montessori’s beloved art teacher. She considers it a great privilege to introduce new art ideas to the students each week.
Susan was born and raised in Boise. She spent many years living in other places, including England, and eventually settled in California where she met her husband. He is a professional artist, and introduced Susan to her love of art. They moved to Boise for a better environment to raise their two children.
Ms. Susan is a self-taught artist living fully immersed in art. She became involved in art education as a volunteer at Adams Elementary and eventually became the Art Coordinator for the school, a position she held for 12 years. She was also the Boise School District Art Coordinator for one year. During these years she also taught printmaking classes and mosaic classes locally.
Ms. Susan has had a profound impact on Lakewood Montessori’s art program. She spent years researching developmentally appropriate, process-based art engagement for young children. She redesigned the art room into a beautiful and functional studio space for Lakewood’s students. She coordinates the projects for the Lakewood PTO’s art auction fundraiser (held every two years), collaborating with the teachers to design projects that are not just beautiful, but memorable and engaging for the students.
When Ms. Susan is not at school, she loves to be with her family (including her six beautiful grandchildren). They love to cook, go for walks, and go out to movies.

Ms. Saray joined Lakewood Montessori as the Spanish teacher in 2019. She originally studied Architecture at Universidad Michoacana De San Nicholas DeHidalgo, and has worked in education for nearly ten years. She has been teaching Spanish to learners of all ages since she came to Boise from Mexico with her husband in 2015.
Since joining the faculty at Lakewood Montessori, she has brought an infusion of excitement and energy into her lesson planning. She teaches daily in the Children’s House, and even gives lessons in the Toddler Community. She designed remote lessons during the pandemic, and reinforces Spanish language learning outside on the playground. Her ability to teach is truly versatile. Her natural enthusiasm is infectious; the children love to gather with her and learn!
Outside of school, Ms. Saray enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Her hobbies are baking, painting, and making crafts!

Ms. Rhianon is Lakewood Montessori’s Outdoor Play Specialist. She has a certification in Early Childhood S.T.E.M, and coordinates playground improvements that help children build vital skills. She advocates for risky play, and loves to introduce new sensory and engineering elements to our ever-adapting playground. The playground is Ms. Rhianon’s classroom, and we are lucky to have her talents!
Since she joined Lakewood Montessori in 2021, Ms. Rhianon has had a significant impact on Lakewood’s outdoor spaces. She designed the new play structure that was installed in 2024. She spearheaded improvements to the Toddler Community outdoor classrooms. You will also see her engaging with Toddler Community and Children’s House students inside and outside the classroom.
Rhianon is the proud mom of an elementary aged child. She is a talented artist, and has a playful, generous spirit. We’re very glad she is part of our Lakewood family!

Ms. Alexandra has been a part of the Lakewood Montessori family since 2023! She originally joined as a summer playground assistant. Now that her family has relocated to Boise, she is a Lakewood teacher year-round!
Ms. Alexandra majored in Child Development, and has worked as a preschool aide for Broward County schools and a lead teacher in other preschools in Florida. She was a stay-at-home mom for her three children, including homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms. Alexandra has a can-do attitude and a fantastic sense of humor! You will find her helping out all over the school. In her free time she enjoys reading and hydroponic gardening.

Ms. Linda has been a part of the Lakewood Montessori Family since November of 2005. She has been the traveling assistant and afternoon coordinator during her tenure at Lakewood. She holds a B.S. in secondary education from Northern State University, where she also majored in sociology. Ms. Linda was born and raised in South Dakota, and lived in Colorado and Washington before settling in Boise. She loves the climate, forests, and foothills of Boise.
Linda has learned a great deal about Montessori education during her time at Lakewood. She was first amazed by the independence of the children. She appreciates how Montessori education encourages a child’s independence by informing the role of the teacher; to stand back, observe, and guide.
Ms. Linda is an avid football fan and likes to read and go for walks in her free time.

Ms. Nicole started at Lakewood in September 2016 as a traveling assistant in the Children’s House rooms. She was born and raised in Boise. Nicole holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, but has stayed with Montessori education since obtaining it. She has a national certification in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for ages 3-6, which is a Montessori approach to religious education. She also has a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design. After graduate school she took the opportunity to live and work in New York City as a costume designer. She worked on many off-Broadway productions and considers this time to be invaluable to shaping who she is today.
Ms. Nicole earned her Montessori Teaching Credential at the Early Childhood level from Caspari Montessori Institute in 2018. She then served as a Lead teacher at Lakewood Montessori and became a founding member and Lead teacher at Immaculata Catholic Montessori 2020-2022. She returned to Lakewood, her true Montessori home and family then quickly adopted the role of Educational Coordinator. She is a Positive Discipline teacher trainer, and trains parents and staff on strategies for engaging with children in a caring and productive way.
Ms. Nicole is a devoted Montessori mom to a neurospicy creative teenager. She loves to read, craft and is an enthusiastic but amateur hiker. She is a two time cancer survivor and is forever grateful for the support of the Lakewood community in recovery. Montessori education is attractive to Ms. Nicole because of the respect for the child, the independent nature of self-guided learning, and the humility of the teacher to learn alongside with the child while gently guiding their work. She most enjoys watching the children explore and come to their full educational potential while discovering their unique personalities and gifts to the world. Ms. Nicole is a peaceful and loving presence in our school, and we are grateful for the support she gives to students, teachers, and families.

Ms. Meghan joined Lakewood Montessori’s school community in 2014. She was born in the DC area, and has family all over the country. She earned her BFA in Theater from West Virginia University in 2007. She relocated to Idaho from the East coast after college for a job making costumes at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival. Soon after pivoting to a career in education, she found her “daytime home” at Lakewood.
In 2016, Ms. Meghan led Lakewood Montessori’s application for accreditation through the American Montessori Society. She earned her Montessori Administrator’s Credential through Seton Montessori Institute in 2021. She is deeply invested in the growth and refinement of the school, and believes that this community of teachers and families can make lasting positive change in the lives of the children they serve. She was drawn to Montessori education because of its respect for the capabilities of the child, and its emphasis on intrinsically motivated learning.
Meghan loves Lakewood Montessori’s robust art and nature programs, and helps the children to curate the school’s “bug library”. In her free time, Meghan enjoys arts and crafts, gardening, and taking long walks with her dog Benny.

Shellie Taylor was first drawn to Montessori when looking for an educational environment for her daughter. She has been an indispensable part of Lakewood Montessori’s community since the school’s first year in operation. Shellie joined Mary and Karen as a bookkeeper in 2004, and joined the staff full time soon after to manage the school’s finances, payroll, and human resources. For many years, she has been the “glue” that has kept the school’s operations running smoothly. Shellie is a devoted Montessori mom, whose daughter Emili was part of Lakewood’s inaugural class.
Shellie studied accounting and marketing, and has used her talents as a small business owner to support Lakewood’s teachers, staff, and families. She has been responsible for the school’s human resources and financial health, and has been an integral part of strategic planning for the past decade. She owns and manages SSET Bookkeeping, a bookkeeping service with a wide-ranging client list. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, exercising, fishing, paddle boarding, and traveling to destinations near and far.

Lakewood Montessori was founded by Mary Clements and Karen Dugmore in 2004 with 32 children. They have overseen the growth of the school to its current size of 130 students. Both ladies are certified Montessori teachers with over 50 years of experience combined, the majority of which was spent as classroom teachers. Their extensive time in the classroom gives them a unique perspective; what is best for the child is always the first consideration.
They are each supported by loving husbands and families. Both are transplants to Idaho: one from South Africa and one from Florida.
They feel privileged to serve the families and staff of Lakewood Montessori.
